Animal Body Systems

Multicellular organisms contain systems of organs that carry out specialised functions that enable them to survive and reproduce.

Overview of Body Systems

Outline or review the different body systems found in animals.

Body or organ systems are groups of organs working together to perform specific functions, maintaining the overall health and balance of the body. These systems work together to maintain the body's internal environment and ensure its proper functioning.

Here are some key body systems:

ACTIVITY 1: Body Systems Prior Knowledge

1) Students need to form groups with their peers.

2) Each group needs marker pens and a sheet of butchers paper large enough to trace a body outline of a student.

3) One student will lay on the paper, while another student traces their outline. Discussions around consent and appropriate/safe physical contact is essential when students conduct this step.

4) Once students have an outline of a body on their paper, they will work together as a team to add as many organs and organ systems to their outline as possible. All added information should attempt to be as accurate as possible and include labels.
